Social Justice and Public Witness
A call toward personal involvement for change in this world is what brought me to Unitarian Universalism. My interest in and concern about racism led a friend in Topeka, Kansas to invite me to check out the local UU fellowship. There, I found others who were talking about - and, more important, acting on - a variety of social justice issues!
As a minister, I am committed to continued growth in my understanding of and commitment to anti-racism and social justice. I have worked with congregations and communities to develop a Black Lives Matter task force, draft a response to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in Indiana, protest with the Poor People's Campaign, and speak out on reproductive freedom, gun violence, and immigration.
Different communities face different social justice challenges, but regardless of the specific issues at hand, our Unitarian Universalist tradition calls us to "Side with Love."
